ewf governance

On September 20, 1969, the European Weightlifting Federation (EWF) was established in Warsaw, Poland. The European Weightlifting Federation is the governing body of weightlifting in Europe and is governed by Article 60 et seq. of the Swiss Civil Code and EWF Constitution.
EWF is one of the five recognized continental bodies under the flag of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF).

According to Article 1.4 of the EWF Constitution, the EWF operates under the guidance of the International Weightlifting Federation and accepts the IWF regulations governing Continental Federations. The EWF working offices are currently located in Moldova, where the EWF President resides, and in Serbia, where the EWF General Secretary resides. The Congress is the EWF’s supreme authority and is held twice each year, in conjunction with the European Senior Championship and the European Junior and Under 23 Championships. The delegations of the Member Federations constitute the Congress. The Executive Board is elected at the Electoral Congress, which takes place every four (4) years. The EWF is administered by members of the Executive Board who are bound by the Constitution and the decisions of Congress.
